Meet Dr. Mackayla Giermann
Why Chiropractic?
Growing up in Central Wisconsin, Dr. Mackayla Giermann (Dr. Mack) watched her sister bounce around numerous clinics with recurring ear infections. It was not until she visited the local chiropractor that she found relief. Dr. Mack was fascinated with the profession and this experience lit a spark of curiosity around everything chiropractic. Dr. Mack is a self-proclaimed skeptic and began her higher educational journey to find answers regarding chiropractic medicine. That journey led her to University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and eventually to Northwestern Health Sciences University, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees. Throughout her extensive education, Dr. Mack was empowered with knowledge of chiropractic and is passionate about sharing that knowledge with her patients.
The Practice Today
Dr. Mack noticed a glaring shortcoming in the traditional treatment of musculoskeletal pain, exercise. For many years, medical doctors would prescribe pain-killers, muscle relaxants, and even rush into surgery with the promise to ease pain. However, there is a growing body of evidence that movement and exercise are the best treatment for musculoskeletal pain as well as the most potent prophylactic measure in which an individual can partake. Dr. Mack strongly believes that everybody can and should become an athlete, though she does not define athlete in the traditional sense. One does not have to participate in typical sports to be an athlete, they must simply impose physical demands on their body. Mountain biking, football, hiking, golf, dancing, picking up children, carrying groceries, and maintaining balance on slick ice all become forms of athletics. No matter your background or goals, Dr. Mack will craft individualized treatments to help optimize your health and fitness so you can enjoy your life unrestricted.
Outside the Practice
In her spare time, Dr. Mack enjoys slow Sunday mornings wrapped in a comfy blanket with a good book in one hand and a steaming cup of coffee in the other. You can frequently catch her exploring the local trails and backpacking along the Superior Hiking Trail with her two dogs, Chutney and Twinkle, and her husband Jake.
